April Required Reading: 2015

March 2015 Required Reading Report:

1. The God of Small Things by Arundhati Roy - (5/5 Stars) Beautiful prose that evokes sadness and viciousness and youthfulness and innocence and more.

2. Van Gogh by Pascal Bonafoux - (4/5 Stars) Tackles both the art and the artist with passion and ardor.

3. It's Kind of a Funny Story by Ned Vizzini - (4/5 Stars) Funny and honest and captures how crippling mental illness can be. 

April 2015 Required Reading:

  1. High Fidelity by Nick Hornby - TFG's book of the month. Very hipster. Haha. But loads of fun. (And I get to brush up on my British slang! Bollocks! Rubbish! Wanker! Shag! Arse!)
 2. The Whispering Muse by Sjon, Translated by Victoria Cribb - This book is endorsed by my crush, David Mitchell and discovered via Bennard of The Book Hooligan. (BR Task 19: A book that was originally published in another language)
3. Mythology Class by Arnold Arre - A Christmas present (with a scheduled buddy read) from Meliza of Mecanism! (BR Task 20: A graphic novel, a graphic memoir or a collection of comics of any kind)

Instead of Three Wishes by Megan Whalen Turner

Image from Goodreads The first time I've heard of Megan Whalen Turner is through Chachic of Chachic's Book Nook . If you follow/frequent her blog, you'd know that she is a huge fan of Whalen's The Thief Series. Being a fantasy fan myself, I've put in The Thief in my (very long) book wish list. Since, I haven't really gotten around acquiring The Thief just yet, when I saw her name on this book I thought it would be a good chance for me to get acquainted with Whalen's writing style. Instead of Three Wishes contains seven short stories, all depicting the existence of magic in everyday lives. 1. Plague of Leprechaun - Tells the story of how a small idyllic town of North Twicking is shaken up by the news of a Leprechaun Sighting, bringing in an influx of tourists coveting the bag of gold that a leprechaun brings. Top Ten Series I'd Like To Start But Haven't Yet

My list includes the series that I am most interested in starting but haven't yet due to any or all of the following reasons: There are quite a number of other series that I have already started on and thus must finish first before starting any new ones; Overflowing TBR as it is; Not enough cash; Not enough guts (horror genre); And or mood swings.  1. The Lion Hunters Series by Elizabeth Wein - I found out about this through Chachic of Chachic's Book Nook , whose taste in books I find closely similar to mine, so I have a feeling I'll adore this book just like most of the titles she recommends to me. 2.
