2013 Reading Challenges Result
A. Check Off Your Reading List (CORL) Challenge by Gathering Books:
Aim: Level 2 (11-25) Books - Book Savant - ACCOMPLISHED. See tally above.
1. Make a dent on the Fantasy books in TBR pile - FAILED. I only managed to read A Dance with Dragons by GRRM. Pffft.
2. Read the physical books in TBR pile - FAILED. Except for about 5 books, A majority of what I read last year were new acquisitions, ignoring the old ones on my pile. Pffft.
B. Self Imposed Reading Challenges:
Read more books outside wheelhouse, like:
1. Read a title from "The Intimidating List" - PASSED. Read 3! (Take note of the article "a". Haha. Set the bar low!)
*Cloud Atlas by David Mitchell
*Much Ado About Nothing by William Shakespeare
* Twelfth Night by William Shakespeare
2. Read more Non-Fiction - PASSED. Read 4!
*We Learn Nothing by Tim Kreider
*Sex, Drugs and Cocoa Puffs by Chuck Klosterman
*Tiny Beautiful Things by Cheryl Strayed
* Geeks vs Jocks by Jessica Zafra
3. Read more Short Story Collections - PASSED. Read 5!
*What We Talk About When We Talk About Love by Raymond Carver
*We Live in Water by Jess Walters
* Civilwarland in Bad Decline by George Saunders
*Smoke and Mirrors by Neil Gaiman
* A Calendar of Tales by Neil Gaiman
4. Read a Play - PASSED. Read 2! (This overlaps with challenge #1)
*Much Ado About Nothing by William Shakespeare
*Twelfth Night by William Shakespeare
Last year I averaged 53 books, so there has been a considerable decrease in terms of quantity. 20 books less to be exact. But I am fine with that because I managed to diversify my reading choices, as opposed to my YA-dominated 2013. This time around I got to try books I normally wouldn't have gone for, not by myself, no. I think I kinda owe this to the Filipino Goodreads Group, whose (diverse) monthly reads I managed to finally follow for the entire year! (por da first taym). I got to read some new authors and old familiar ones, and discovered new genres and writing styles. In summation, I am quite happy with these stats. 2014 was an awesome reading year! I hope 2015 will be too.

Congratulations for completing the TFG books last year, Tin. We really love and appreciate your contributions on the online discussions. Hope you'll finish this years choices, too! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Louize! The online discussions are great fun! I really hope to be able to do the same thing again this year. :)
DeleteYup, quality over quantity. And let's cheer each other for the TFG monthly books. :)
