Birthday Wish List 2012
It's two more days before my birthday, excluding today, where I get to have an excuse for making a wish list. I hardly ever get any of the titles I wrote in my past book wish lists because my family seem to think I have too many books already, which is preposterous. (ooh big word, I got that from reading ya know :D) Majority of my friends usually give me other stuff besides books. But I still make a list and post it just for fun. (and because I am broke and am hoping that a generous and kind soul just might send a book my way :D)
Birthday Wish List 2012
1. Local Graphic Novels - because I am guilty of not reading Pinoy Lit more than I should and ever since I read and liked Trese 1-2, I thought that graphic novels seem to be the best place to start increasing the number of local lit on my "read list" .
- Trese 3 & 4 by Kajo Baldisomo and Budjette Tan
- Mythology Class by Arnold Arre
- After Eden by Arnold Arre
- Kwentillion edited by Budjette Tan and Paolo Chikiamco
- Or any other local graphic novel
- On the Jellicoe Road by Melina Marchetta
- A Monster Calls by Patrick Ness
- Lizzie Bright and the Buckminster Boy by Gary Scmidt
- The Astonishing Life of Octavian Nothing by M.T. Anderson
- Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card
- Monstrumologist by Rick Yancey
3. Books in a Series - hay, I seem to be leaving a lot of series hanging
- King of Attolia by Megan Whalen Turner
- Monsters of Men by Patrick Ness
- Fire by Kristin Cashore
- Son of the Shadows by Julliet Marillier
- Lirael by Garth Nix
- Lost in a Good Book by Jasper Fforde
4. Contemporary YA - to bring some balance to my reading list which is heavy on the fantasy side.
- The Fault in our Stars by John Green
- Lover's Dictionary by David Levithan
- If I Stay by Gayle Forman
- Before I Fall by Lauren Oliver
- Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins
- Saving June by Hannah Harrington
- Graffiti Moon by Cath Crowley
5. Fairy Tale Retellings - just because I love retellings
- Beauty by Robin Mckinley
- My Mother She Ate Me, My Father He Killed Me: Forty New Fairy Tales edited by Kate Bernheimer
Well, that's that. How about you? Do you make wish lists? Do they get fulfilled by your family or friends? :)
If I Stay is a pretty good book! I'm currently reading it.
ReplyDeleteHi Leigh! I didn't get If I Stay for my birthday but I might just get a copy for myself because I've heard that it's a great read and I'm glad that you agree to that too. There's a sequel I think. It's called Where She Went.:)
DeleteBelated Happy Birthday, Tin! :) Sorry, I missed it. Send me an email or Goodreads message with your address and I'll send you a copy of Kwentillion and my paperback of Beauty.
ReplyDeleteThank You Chachic!!! No prob. I'm still really glad about your birthday greeting! :D I already sent you an e-mail, using your gmail address. :)
DeleteI wish you best of luck in finding the now OOP The Mythology class... I wished I had gotten After Eden while it was on print, but now, finding it is like a needle in a haystack.
ReplyDeleteOh, I didn't know that they're both out of print. It seems like a wonderful fantasy story and Arnold Arre's illustrations are fantastic. Sayang. But like you said, may luck be on our side. :)
