Required Reading: February 2013

When I heard about The Required Reading Challenge over at One More Page, I thought that it's my kind of challenge. It's flexible, and laid-back. It's more of my style. So I decided to join in this month.
Here are the rules as seen on One More Page:

  • Books chosen for the challenge should be in the current TBR pile as of the month of the Required Reading post. So if you decided to join at March, the books you choose for the month should be in your TBR pile as of February.
  • Galleys and ARCs can be included.
  • Posting reviews aren’t necessary (but don’t you want that out of the way, too?).
  • I’ll be posting a theme every month but you don’t have to follow that. You can choose a theme for yourself if you want to — what’s important is the books that you put there are books that you want to get to reading.
  • Lastly: have fun. If you don’t finish a book, it’s okay! If you finish it, then…feel free to reward yourself with something. Like a new book.
I would have to go with the most obvious theme for February, ze month of amour. I thought four would be a nice, reachable number. And maybe just add other romance themed reads as I go along. That is, if I read fast enough through these four here:

1. Love and Leftovers by Sarah Tregay - This is a YA novel in verse, something which I haven't had haven't had in a while now. I've already started the book and I'm halfway in and I'm loving it so far. It's a sweet and sincere kind of story. Thanks to Fats of Gathering Books for the heads up!

2. This Lullaby by Sarah Dessen - A few people over at The Filipino Goodreads Group will be doing a buddy read of this particular novel. I thought I'd be fun to join in. Besides I haven't had a Dessen read yet. So, this will be my first. :)

3. The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight by Jennifer E. Smith - The geeky and soppy title caught my attention. Besides, I'd love to know the relative frequency of the occurence of such a thing as love at first sight. If this book even answers that. (Geek much?) Hee. :)

4. The Lover's Dictionary by David Levithan - I loved Levithan's Dash and Lily's Book of Dares so it's no surprise that I'd go look for his other books and this one seems the most appropriate for February. Plus, I heard nothing but good things about it.
Romance themed books have always been a hit and miss for me. But I am hoping for the best with these four titles.  So, onto the love fest! :D

    1. I am about halfway through the book already. It's pretty good so far. Before Sunrise? The movie? The one with Ethan Hawke? I haven't seen that one! I only learned about it after watching 2 Days in New York, also written (directed, produced, and starred)by Julie Delpy. I loved her in that movie and it was only then that I heard that she's pretty famous for Before Sunrise. :D
